Dill is a herb known for its delicate, fern-like leaves and fireworks-like flowers. Dill is not only pleasant to look at, but it also offers a distinctly bright and slightly sweet flavour as an ingredient. Dill flowers are edible too – providing a peppery flavour as a garnish.
Dill is a popular ingredient for fish dishes and soups. It can also be used in pickling and sauces.
Cut and come again! Dill is a hardy herb that can be harvested at any time once the plant has reached maturity.
To harvest, snip the leaves just above a leaf node where new leaves will grow. Only harvest what you need for immediate use as dill does not store well. Dill seeds could be collected from the flowers if they are left long enough to turn brown.
