Sage is a perennial herb with grey-green, furry textured leaves in appearance. Sage offers its consumers a unique, warm-spicy, herbaceous notes of camphor and eucalyptus in taste.
Fresh Sage is mainly associated with sausage and poultry stuffing and is widely used in craft butter, while dried Sage can be drunk as herbal tea. Due to Sage’s strong and overpowering aroma, the plant also makes an excellent natural deterrent for some pests like cockroaches.
Check out this blog post for ways to integrate Sage plants for everyday wellbeing.
Cut and come again! Sage can be harvested several times.
Harvest by cutting the top of the stem about 0.5 cm above a leaf node to encourage the plant to bush out and produce new growth. It’s important to not harvest more than one-third of the leaves at a time, in order to allow the plant to continue growing and producing leaves.
