Mint, a classic flavour with a refreshing aroma, is easy to grow and excellent to consume, fresh and dry.
From drinks to desserts, the intense menthol flavour of Mint can provide a refreshing impact to any recipe – from tea, cocktail, and ice cream to lamb dishes.
Cut and come again! Mint is a rapid growing plant and can quickly become overgrown if not harvested frequently. Regular harvesting helps to control the size of the plant, encourage the production of new leaves, and prevent the plant from becoming too woody and dry.
Start by identifying the new growth on the plant. These are the most flavorful and fragrant leaves. Snip off the new growth, leaving about 5 cm of stem and repeat this process every 3-5 weeks.
Mint plants may develop long roots, lift the net pods up to check the roots every 3 weeks and trim extending roots, leaving just one pinky finger long of roots extended from the base of the net pod.
