Food possesses an amazing and unique power to bring people together. Regardless of age, origin, or belief, we all share the universal need to eat, often several times a day. While we frequently eat and occasionally prepare meals together, the time when communities would grow their food together has largely passed. At Grobrix, we believe that by growing food, we naturally build communities, and by growing communities, we grow as people.
Looking for unique team building activities in Singapore that move beyond the typical escape rooms or generic bowling nights? In today’s workplace, employees demand more than just a paycheck; they seek environments that genuinely care about their well-being and the planet. Choosing the right activity is crucial for showing that commitment.
It’s time to move away from generic corporate outings and embrace hands-on, experiential learning that fosters genuine connections and introduces valuable new skills. Grobrix offers a creative, nature-based approach to team bonding, proving that growing food together can help us grow as people and build healthier, more connected communities.
This is me by the way. I’m Mathew, the Founder of Grobrix.
Why Go Hands-On for Your Team Bonding?
Traditional team-building activities often fall flat, resulting in surface-level connections that quickly fade when teams return to the office. To drive genuine, lasting change, you need experiences that require active participation and shared focus.
Hands-on, creative activities are far more effective because they foster deep bonds. When employees share a meaningful, low-stakes experience, such as creating something together or working toward a common goal, they build trust and camaraderie that lasts well beyond the session.
This collaborative environment naturally encourages authentic communication. Tackling a shared project forces team members to practice clear communication, active listening, and collective problem solving skills that are essential for high-performing teams in the workplace.
Furthermore, experiential learning can boost overall wellness. When activities are centered on tangible, natural concepts, like food or working with raw materials, they contribute directly to a robust wellness strategy, promoting better physical health and supporting mental well-being. These activities provide a valuable mental break and a sense of accomplishment.
Finally, these projects create visible, sensory engagement. They craft a measurable narrative that employees can see, smell, taste, and touch, immediately connecting them to a shared experience and, by extension, to their company’s core values. The result is a memorable, impactful team experience that simply cannot be achieved through passive observation.
Creative, Non-Generic Corporate Workshops by Grobrix
Grobrix activations transform your office into a lively hub for engagement, centred around beautifully designed modular, vertical edible walls. These are a world away from the usual classroom-style training, focusing on “farm-to-table” experiences that are unique and fun. Our structured workshop offering provides unique, fresh experiences:
Pesto Making Classes are the original Grobrix workshop, dating back to 2020. This classic team event gets teams harvesting fresh basil directly from the farm wall and blending it into vibrant, hyper-local pesto. This workshop is all about changing up the usual recipe and encouraging creativity! We introduce participants to new greens like kale and mustard, swap out pine nuts for cashews and sunflower seeds, and experiment with pecorino instead of Parmesan. A squeeze of lemon? Don’t mind if I do! This highly engaging, hands-on session is ideal for groups up to 30 people. We bring ten bullet blenders and all the required high-quality ingredients, ensuring everyone leaves with a jar of pesto they made themselves. Picture below from Johnson and Johnson
The workshops encourage employees to reflect on sustainable practices, experiment with new ideas, and adopt habits that positively impact their daily lives—both at work and at home.

Our Farm-to-Table Smoothie Bar turns team bonding into an interactive wellness challenge. Participants can follow a live demonstration or get creative, designing their own healthy recipes using freshly harvested greens and herbs. I drink these every day and the core challenge is finding that perfect balance: maximizing the flavor and nutritional impact of the greens while minimizing the natural sugar intake from fruit. It’s a fun, hands-on way to promote physical well-being and introduce healthier habits. We bring all the equipment, including blenders and a selection of frozen fruits, to make setup easy. We also provide brain-boosting additions like chia seeds, ensuring everyone walks away with a delicious, customized, and genuinely healthy drink.
The Farm-to-Table Herbal Tea Workshop is designed to give teams a personalized, hands-on path to daily wellness. Participants use freshly grown herbs, such as vibrant mint or calming lemon balm, harvested straight from the Grobrix wall, to blend healthy and hydrating afternoon refreshments. We enhance this experience by supplementing the fresh harvest with carefully selected dried flowers and spices, such as chamomile, rosebuds, or cinnamon sticks. Teams learn how these ingredients contribute to health benefits like relaxation, immunity support, and improved sleep quality. Best of all, everyone goes home with their own herbal tea infuser cup, allowing them to immediately exercise their new blending skills daily and transform their afternoon routine. This activity promotes physical well-being by emphasizing healthy habits and is a relaxing, restorative experience for the mind.
“We do lots of activations for our employees. Once a month, we have our ‘In Days,’ which are themed days at LinkedIn. We grow different herbs on the Grobrix walls, now we use them to make fresh tea—like mint tea or lemon balm, or whatever concoction people prefer with the herbs. We’re always looking for new and fun ideas of what we can try, and that’s part of the joy of running the food program,”
Natalie Hall, International Workplace Program Manager at LinkedIn
