There’s been much chatter about the return-to-office movement and the growing importance of caring for employees’ mental health and well-being. With the rise of hybrid work models, creating a workspace that fosters well-being, community, and sustainability is more crucial than ever. Find out how Grobrix partnered with a financial services client to support their wellness and sustainability agenda.

Integrating urban farming walls into their office served a two-pronged purpose for this client: enhancing employee wellness and supporting sustainability goals, including their efforts to achieve Green Mark certification. The vibrant greenery of the farming walls seamlessly integrates into their Activity-Based Working (ABW) office layout, designed to support flexibility and encourage collaboration, while adding a lively touch to the workplace.

“The urban farming wall setup makes the office very bright and cheery, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both staff and visitors. It’s also a great talking point when we have guests, and for our staff, it brings a bit of nature indoors,” shared a representative from the Corporate Services team.

“The Grobrix walls also come with their own water tank. The self-running system also means that maintenance is simpler, making it ideal for an office setting,” the representative explained. This combination of advanced technology and easy upkeep made Grobrix the practical choice for them.

With their ABW system—where employees choose workspaces based on the tasks at hand— Grobrix’s walls have become a central feature, fostering a sense of community and familiarity. “The walls serve as a space for people to de-stress. It’s great that they can take breaks, sip coffee, and unwind among the plants when needed,” the representative added.

The client also introduced initiatives such as Salad Tuesdays, where employees harvest fresh produce from the Grobrix walls to make salads. These sessions offer more than just fresh greens—they spark interaction among staff and raise awareness around sustainability. “During these sessions, we see a lot of interaction among staff. Generally, we notice higher awareness around sustainability, and people really enjoy having access to fresh produce,” the representative

The client’s experience with Grobrix has been further enriched by consistent and personalised customer service. “Every Tuesday morning, you’ll see the Grobrix team here for maintenance. If we need to adjust the timing—for example, if board members are visiting—they’re flexible and accommodating”.

The regular presence of Grobrix representatives has strengthened the connection between the company and its employees, making the system feel like an integral part of the workplace. “Gareth, the Customer Success Lead, often engages with staff, answering questions or sharing insights about the plants. That personal touch is something you don’t get with other companies,” noted the representative.

Grobrix’s green walls have brought more than just aesthetic value to the client—they’ve fostered wellness, sustainability, and a stronger sense of community in the workplace. The representative summed it up: “The mental wellness benefits are significant. It’s not just about sustainability. The walls help create a pleasant, engaging environment that brings people together.”

At Grobrix, we are proud to support companies in building workplaces that foster wellness, nurture community, and prioritise happiness. We believe that through thoughtful design and introducing small, sustainable changes, organisations can cultivate well-being, stronger connections, and meaningful sustainability for lasting impact.
