Next in our International Women’s Day Series, we had the privilege of lyf One-North’s Ambassador of Buzz, Kaitlyn Lim, an inspiring figure whose path embodies the essence of this year’s theme.

 

For me, ‘Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.’ is more than just a theme; it’s a guiding principle that has shaped my career journey,” Kaitlyn reflects thoughtfully. “At every step, I’ve been fortunate to receive support and investment from those who believed in me, irrespective of gender.”

 

“From the early stages of my career to where I stand today, every opportunity I’ve had to broaden my skills, every milestone I’ve reached, has been buoyed by the support and investment of those who believed in me, regardless of gender.

 

“However, I recognise that this journey is not just about personal achievements; it’s about creating an environment where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. “Embracing this ethos means fostering a culture of equity, where women are not just present but valued, where their voices are not just heard but amplified,” she said.

 

Kaitlyn’s journey is punctuated with personal anecdotes of resilience and growth. “I vividly remember joining lyf one-north Singapore with a hunger to learn and grow. However, I lacked experience in sales pitching and events planning,” she shares. “Through the guidance of my mentors, I not only learned the ropes but exceeded my KPIs and cultivated strong relationships.”

 

Highlighting the benefits of mentorship-based investments, Kaitlyn shares, “Mentorship has played a pivotal role in my personal and professional growth, providing guidance, support, and invaluable insights from seasoned individuals who have walked similar paths.” While acknowledging the importance of financial investments, Kaitlyn stresses that true support for women’s advancement goes beyond monetary contributions.

 

“Businesses must prioritise initiatives such as mentorship programs, inclusivity fostering, skill development opportunities, and transparent promotion processes,” she asserts. “These efforts are crucial in creating an environment where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.” Reflecting on her journey, Kaitlyn acknowledges the challenges that women often face in their pursuit of equality.

 

“While I’ve been fortunate to work in inclusive environments, I recognise that many women encounter barriers and stereotypes,” she shares. “As such, I remain committed to advocating for equality and fostering inclusive spaces wherever I go.”
