Lemonbalm. Everything you need to know and more!
A member of the mint family, lemonbalm has a delightful lemony scent and flavor that have made it a popular choice in culinary applications. But it’s not just its taste that’s appealing; lemon balm is also packed with potential health benefits. Rich in antioxidants, it plays a crucial role in protecting the body’s cells from oxidative stress, which can contribute to chronic diseases. The herb’s antiviral properties, attributed to its high levels of caffeic acid and rosmarinic acid, can aid in combating viruses, including those in the herpes family.
Lemon balm is widely recognized for its calming effects. Research suggests that it may help reduce symptoms of anxiety and promote a sense of calmness and improved mood. This soothing quality can also extend to the digestive system, where lemon balm may help relieve indigestion and other gastrointestinal complaints. As a mild sedative, it can contribute to a more restful sleep, making it a popular choice for those struggling with insomnia.
Furthermore, the herb has traditionally been used in natural remedies to address various conditions, ranging from wounds and insect bites to headaches and toothaches. With its potential to support cognitive function and its possible neuroprotective effects, lemon balm is also being studied for its impact on neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Plenty of reasons there to be sippin’ more lemonbalm! (which grows really well on a Grobrix urban farm)
#growingtogether with Ericsson. A herbal tea workshop to remember
Following on from the above, Ericsson’s office transformed into a vibrant herbal tea garden as teams harvested fresh herbs from their Grobrix urban farm and crafted personalized tea blends together. The laughter in the room said it all – this was more than a employee engagement workshop, it was a chance to reconnect. As a team building activity, the session provided….
- A mental reset: The calming ritual of blending teas gave teams a mindful break from screens
- Natural bonding opportunities: Colleagues who rarely cross paths exchanged recipes and stories
- Lasting Wellness: Many participants now use their custom tea blends for afternoon recharge moments.

#growingtogether with Citibank ahead of World Environment Day!
This month marked an exciting milestone as we partnered with Citibank for their first office harvest session. Smiles filled the room as employees gathered fresh greens from their Grobrix indoor urban farm, experiencing sustainable farming firsthand. On the lead up to World Environment Day next week, here’s why this matters!
- Zero Waste: Every leaf picked eliminates plastic packaging from supermarket greens
- Carbon Conscious: On-site growing means zero food miles for these fresh ingredients
- Water Wise: Our closed-loop system uses 90% less water than traditional farming
“Harvesting our own office-grown greens changed how I think about food,” shared one Citibank participant. “It’s amazing to see sustainability in action with a workplace wellness theme.”
